Football dominates the British betting coupon, and tennis markets are often set against its familiar three-way match result. This section gives the football side of that comparison.

Fractional odds such as 11/4 or evens are standard, while exchanges and many apps show decimals. Match odds, predictions and tipsters are discussed, with futsal and “soccer” as the terms used abroad.

Advertising has two football-specific points. The whistle-to-whistle code is a voluntary industry arrangement: from 1 August 2019 television carries no betting ads around a live event, five minutes before it starts and five minutes after it ends, before the 9pm watershed. By their agreement of 13 April 2023, Premier League clubs will remove gambling sponsorship from matchday shirt fronts from 2026/27.
